Where
it all began…
Power Tots, Inc. began in 1985 at
one daycare center with 16 children by Kathi Donnelly.
Since then, Power Tots has grown and is now taught in
over 45 centers to over 1200 students on a yearly basis.
Kathi started Power Tots from her love for dance and
gymnastics and a deep desire to share this love with
children.
Kathi was a competitive gymnast with
the United States Gymnastics Federation for eight years
and began dancing in 1978. As well as winning numerous
state and regional titles, she has also performed at
the White House, Kennedy Center, and Disney World, as
well as appearing on Star Search. Kathi has also performed
in USO tours in Germany, Israel, and Egypt.
As a dance instructor, Kathi choreographed
nationally recognized ensembles in several competitive
sectors. Her awards range from choreographer of the
year, to highest score, to most innovative.
As the mother of 4 children and with
over 28 years of teaching experience, Kathi’s
commitment and passion to make a positive impact on
childhood development set the idea of Power Tots apart
from any other program offered.
In 2006, director Kelly Sorenson took
over the Power Tots program and is eager and determined
to continue the Power Tots concept that Kathi Donnelly
started 25 years ago: high-quality instruction, positive
attitude and discipline in a safe environment, and an
overall exciting time for children of all ages!

What
makes Power Tots, Inc. different than other fitness-based
children’s programs?
At Power Tots, Inc., we strive to
provide high-quality gymnastics, yoga, and dance instruction
in a safe, fun, and positive environment. We set our
standards high by offering instruction that is never
competitive and always encouraging, disciplining with
a “positive attitude” and leading by example.
We also offer a developed and researched gymnastics
and yoga curriculum that progresses children from basic
to more advanced skills at their own pace. Instructors
are safety-certified by USA Gymnastics and Power Tots,
Inc. and are trained to advance with each child based
on their own individual needs without disparaging other
children or creating a competitive atmosphere. As each
child progresses on our many sets of equipment that
include the parallel bar, balance beam, springboard,
vaulting blocks, parachute, and a wide variety of mats,
a progress report is sent home to track their development
and improvement! As each child accomplishes a new set
of skills each year in Power Tots, their smile lights
up with accomplishment and pride!

Power Tots franchise?
- Everything you need to learn the PowerTots way of
teaching children and developing a clientele.
- A protected territory.
- Continual support from our
home office.
How much does a franchise cost?
Your initial investment ranges
from $35,525 to $62,700. The flat rate franchise fee
is $20,000. Factors such as travel for training, cost
of equipment, franchise fee and working capital are
estimated in the range provided.
After I’ve bought a franchise,
what happens next?
You will attend 8-10 days of training
at our home office in Southern Maryland, where you will
learn everything you need for a successful business!
We also will provide you with on-site assistance and
start up support after you have completed training at
our home office. A buddy system is also set up for weekly
progress talks with our office.
What kind of experience or background
do I need?
Power Tots is looking for highly
active and self-motivated individuals. Any experience
with teaching or running a business is helpful, but
not required! A love of children, an interest in improving
their quality of life, and full-time (40 hours per week)
commitment to your Power Tots business are the most
important characteristics.
What qualities make me a great
candidate for a Power Tots franchise?
- LOVE of children!
- Great organizational skills!
- Outgoing and personable!
- Willingness and eagerness to learn!
- Reliable and responsible!
- Physically active lifestyle!
- Experience in dance/gymnastics/yoga/owning a business
a plus, but not required!
Do I need a physical studio or gym
for Power Tots?
NO! Power Tots can be run right from
your own home/office!
Will the home office offer me
support once I get my business set up?
We offer a “buddy system”
throughout the first several months of your operation,
comprehensive training, and a strong, working relationship
with our home office. We also offer unlimited email
and phone support and constant updating of materials
from our home office.
Will I actually teach classes?
Yes! Each franchisee owner will
hire, train and supervise a staff in addition to marketing
and growing their business. You will start as an individual
before hiring your staff members, so teaching will be
a part of each franchisee owner’s responsibilities.
However, this will not always be permanent (if you decide).
As a franchise owner, your main goal is to grow and
sustain the business, so the teaching of regular classes
will most likely slowly ease out of the owner’s
responsibility.
